Firstly let me offer my apologies for a lack of playlist of the week. I've just returned from a lovely holiday down on the Dorset coast and so the only thing I've really been listening to is the sound of silence. Oh, and the new Fleet Foxes album but more on that later in the week.
Instead I'd like to tip you off to a relatively recent release from a rather delicate Brooklyn bunch; Beach Fossils. 'What A Pleasure' is the 2011 follow up to their debut self-titled LP and is an enjoyable little 8 track fit for another long bank-holiday weekend such as this.
Whilst the band don't tend to venture in to musically challenging territory, the sparseness of What A Pleasure creates space for beguiling jangly tunes akin to The Radio Dept. or Wild Nothing. In fact, the latter actually features on the track 'Out in the Way'. Beach Fossils are nothing particularly spectacular or exciting but nor do they pretend to be. This EP is a lovely snapshot of lo-fi, hazy, sun-drenched songs to help you along with your weekend.
