Bibio - Mind Bokeh

It's been a good couple of weeks for new, unreleased music slipping through the sieve of internet piracy. The latest leak to land in my soggy lap is Bibio - Mind Bokeh, which is due for release on April 4th on Warp Records. Bibio - AKA Stephen Wilkinson - had a hectic year in 2009 bringing us Vignetting The Compost, Ambivalence Avenue and The Apple And The Tooth; including his transfer from Warp from Mush for the latter two. Whilst The Apple And The Tooth didn't succeed in fully grabbing my attention, Vignetting and AA both rated pretty highly on my obligatory 'albums of the year' list. Yet their musical style is completely contrasting: the former being predominantly an acoustic haze of floating riffs and reverb-set-to-eleven vocal melodies, whilst the latter sees Bibio making full use of being given the key to Warp's armoury in a truly stunning beats-driven IDM record.

It's not really a surprise then that Mind Bokeh takes strongly after her predecessor and demonstrates Bibio's obvious guitar musicianship together with a pinch of electronic soul.

Sounds Like: Ambivalence Avenue's twin sister, reminds me a bit of Aim and Go! Team in places.
